Saiful Muluk National Park, National park in Mansehra District, Pakistan.
Saiful Muluk National Park is a protected area in the Kaghan Valley region covering more than 880 square kilometers with elevations reaching about 3,272 meters. The terrain includes mountain forests, alpine meadows, and several lakes set within this high-altitude landscape.
The area was designated as a national park by the Pakistani government in 2003 to protect its natural resources and ecosystems. This designation marked an important step in preserving this high-altitude mountain landscape for future generations.
The central lake here features in local stories about a prince who met a fairy princess at its shores, a tale that shapes how visitors experience the place today.
The park is best reached through the town of Naran and the ideal visiting season is May through September when mountain roads are passable and safe. Winter months bring rapid weather changes and heavy snow that can make travel difficult or impossible.
The protected territory is home to rare mountain species including snow leopards, Asiatic black bears, and Himalayan snowcocks. These animals are rarely seen by visitors, but their presence makes this place a significant refuge for endangered wildlife.
