Wazir Khan Mosque, Mosque in Old Walled City, Lahore, Pakistan
The Wazir Khan Mosque features five domes, four minarets reaching 107 feet, and walls decorated with Persian calligraphy and geometric tile patterns.
Built in 1641 during Shah Jahan's reign, Governor Hakim Ilm-ud-Din commissioned this mosque as a representation of Mughal architectural excellence.
The mosque integrates Persian, Indian and Islamic design elements through its extensive use of fresco paintings, tile mosaics and Arabic inscriptions.
Located 300 meters from Delhi Gate along the Royal Trail, the mosque maintains regular prayer times and includes a craft bazaar in its entrance plaza.
The mosque incorporates the shrine of Syed Muhammad Ishaq Gazruni, making it both a religious structure and a significant spiritual destination.
