Governor's House

The Governor's House is an expansive official residence in Lahore featuring multiple halls and intricately designed ceilings in Victorian architectural style. The structure displays British colonial design elements throughout its layout and interior spaces.

After Punjab was annexed by the British, colonial authorities established this property as the Lieutenant-Governor's residence. It later became the official seat of the governor in independent Pakistan.

The residence reflects how governance transformed from British colonial times to modern Pakistan through the objects and furnishings displayed throughout its rooms. Visitors can see this evolution in the pieces that have been preserved across generations.

The grounds can be uneven in places and require comfortable walking shoes to explore the different areas. Plan for a longer visit since the property is large and contains many zones to see.

Beneath the building lies the tomb of Muhammad Qasim Khan, a relative of Mughal emperor Akbar, featuring four entrances and a northern stairway. This hidden historical element reveals the layered history of different periods at this location.
