Cathedral Church of Resurrection

The Cathedral Church of Resurrection stands on The Mall and features distinctive pink sandstone walls with twin towers and Neo-Gothic details throughout. The interior contains ornate woodwork and windows characteristic of Anglican churches from this period.

The building was constructed in 1887 under the design of British architect John Oldrid Scott and originally had taller spires reaching higher into the sky. An earthquake in 1911 caused significant damage, leading to the removal of the original upper structures.

The cathedral serves as the main gathering place for the Anglican community in Lahore, welcoming worshippers from across the region to share in worship. Visitors notice how the space brings people together in quiet reflection amid the city's energy.

The church is accessible from outside, but visiting during worship services offers the best way to see the interior. Visitors should dress respectfully and remember this is an active place of worship used by the local community.

A weathercock mounted on the roof serves as a local landmark and gave the building its local nickname Kukar Girja among residents. This small but distinctive feature helps people orient themselves when navigating the city.
