Chauburji, Mughal gateway monument in Lahore, Pakistan
Chauburji is a Mughal gateway featuring four tall minarets and elaborately decorated walls. The surfaces display designs with turquoise tiles and red brick patterns based on Persian styles.
The monument was built in 1646 under Shah Jahan and served as an entrance to a large garden. It was connected to a princess from the Mughal royal family.
The structure blends architectural styles from different regions, visible in its decorative patterns and overall design. Walking around it today, you can see how these different influences came together in one building.
The site is located at the intersection of Multan Road and Bahawalpur Road on a maintained roundabout. Proximity to the Orange Line metro station makes access convenient.
The upper part of the monument features Arabic inscriptions in blue tilework. These religious decorations are an important part of the artistic design you can see.
