Żywiec, Regional capital city in southern Poland
Located at the intersection of the Soła River and the Beskid Mountains, Żywiec spans across valleys with Lake Żywieckie at its northern edge point.
The settlement moved to its current location in 1448 after severe floods, later becoming part of the Austrian Kingdom of Galicia following the First Partition of Poland.
The Palace of the Habsburgs houses exhibits of regional artifacts, while the Gothic Church of the Holy Cross contains medieval religious art collections.
The central train station connects travelers to Kraków and Katowice, with regular bus services operating throughout the Silesian Voivodeship region.
The Żywiec Brewery, established in 1856, maintains its original copper brewing vessels and produces beer using water from mountain springs.
