Wielkopolska National Park, National park in western Poland.
Located 15 kilometers south of Poznań, this 76-square-kilometer protected area features post-glacial lakes, dense forests, and gentle hills shaped by ancient ice movements.
The park received its initial proposal in 1922 by Professor A. Wodziczko, leading to two reserves in 1932 before its official establishment in 1957.
The park contains historical monuments including a wooden church from the 17th century and castle ruins built by Tytus Działyński in 1827 on Zamkowa Island.
Seven marked hiking trails traverse the park, connecting the towns of Mosina and Puszczykowo, both accessible by regular train service from Poznań.
The park houses over 3,000 insect species, 190 bird species, and 1,120 types of vascular plants across its varied ecosystems of lakes and pine forests.
