Ścinawka Średnia, Village in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland
Ścinawka Średnia is a village in Lower Silesian Voivodeship in southwestern Poland, situated in the valley of the Ścinawka River. The settlement spreads across agricultural plains with forested hills nearby.
The village was previously known as Mittelsteine and experienced multiple territorial shifts under Polish, Bohemian, and Prussian rule. Polish administration was restored in 1945.
The Church of Saint Mary Magdalene stands as the central religious structure in the village, representing traditional Polish religious architecture and local community gatherings.
The village has limited services for visitors but serves well as a base for hiking in the nearby Table Mountains. The Czech border is easily accessible from here.
During World War II, a concentration camp operated in the village, holding thousands of female prisoners from Poland and Hungary. Memorial sites today mark this tragic history.
