Strzelce County

Strzelce County consists of seven distinct municipalities spread across 744 square kilometers in southwestern Poland, with Strzelce Opolskie serving as its administrative center. The region extends over rolling countryside with agricultural areas and small town centers connected by roads and rail lines.

The county was created on January 1, 1999, through Polish administrative reforms that restructured local governance divisions nationwide. This reorganization modernized regional administration and local decision-making across the country.

The name Strzelce comes from medieval hunters and archers who settled in this area and established communities here. This origin still appears today in place names throughout the region, reflecting that early heritage.
