Jezioro Nidzkie, Lake in Pisz County, Poland.
Jezioro Nidzkie is a lake in Pisz County, set within the Masurian lake district of northeastern Poland. It is surrounded by dense forest on most sides and connected to neighboring lakes by narrow waterways, giving it a sheltered feel compared to busier lakes in the region.
The lake and its surroundings were designated as a nature reserve in 1950, as part of broader efforts to protect the Masurian landscape. This decision limited motor traffic on the water from an early stage and helped keep the forest belt around the shore largely intact.
On the right bank of the lake stands a forester's lodge that now houses a museum dedicated to Polish poet Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński. Visitors can see personal objects and documents connected to his life and work there.
The lake is best reached from Ruciane-Nida, where boat rentals, moorings, and public beach areas are concentrated. Visiting outside the summer peak makes it easier to find space on the shore and to explore the water without crowds.
Motorboats are banned from most of the lake's surface, making it one of the few lakes in Masuria where sailing and rowing are the norm rather than the exception. This means the sounds you hear on the water are mostly wind and oars, which is rare for a lake of this size.
