Śluza Guzianka I

Śluza Guzianka I is a lock in the Guzianka canal system that allows boats to navigate between two connected lakes. The structure features concrete chambers and electric gates designed to manage water level changes and handle boat traffic year-round.

The lock was built in the late 1800s and originally featured wooden construction. It later received structural improvements with stronger materials and modern operating systems.

The lock represents a central point in the Great Masurian Lakes system, connecting Lake Mikołajskie to Lake Nidzkie through established waterways.

You can watch the lock in action from nearby walking paths, especially when boats pass through the chambers. Activity is busier during warmer months when recreational boating season is in full swing.

During the renovation period of Guzianka I, maritime traffic continued through the adjacent Guzianka II lock, maintaining uninterrupted water transport in the region.
