Serock

Serock sits on the north bank of Zegrze Lake, roughly 40 kilometers north of Warsaw, with water bodies and farmland surrounding the town. The settlement developed along this waterside location, where the lake and surrounding agriculture shape the local landscape.

The settlement gained town rights in 1417 and became a crucial trade center within the Duchy of Masovia. This early status helped it grow into a strategically important settlement throughout the region.

The International Folklore Review Kupalnocka draws performers and visitors to celebrate traditional music and dance performances in the town center each year. This event shapes how locals and guests experience the place and demonstrates the community's connection to folk traditions.

National roads 61 and 62 intersect at Serock, linking the town to Warsaw and other major cities through regular bus connections. Visitors navigating the area should keep these road intersections in mind for getting around easily.

The community operates Sunny Serock, a solar power project that transformed a former landfill site and provides free electricity to cooperative members. This unusual initiative shows how local efforts can turn abandoned land into renewable energy sources.
