Saint Bartholomew church in Gliwice

Saint Bartholomew church is a Gothic Revival structure that rises 92 meters high with a brick construction and rectangular layout. The building features a square chancel, an elongated nave, and a three-story tower with crenellations at its summit.

A wooden church built by the Templars in 1232 stood on this site before the current brick structure was constructed in 1911 following Gothic Revival design. This transition from a medieval timber building to a 20th-century stone structure marks the evolution of the community's faith over time.

The interior features wall paintings from the 1600s showing Mary's family line alongside Baroque sculptures of apostles. These artworks create a spiritual atmosphere that reflects the faith of past generations.

The building is located at 36 Toszecka Street in the Sobieszowice neighborhood and is visible from the street. Access to the interior is restricted, so visitors should plan to view the exterior architecture and tower from outside the building.

The tower includes crenellations similar to a fortress and houses religious furnishings from the 1700s. A holy water font and confessional from this period offer insight into how worshippers practiced their faith centuries ago.
