Bielawa

Bielawa is a town at the base of the Sowie Mountains in Lower Silesia, with the Bielawica stream running through its core. The layout spreads across the valley floor, showing a mix of older buildings and newer construction reflecting different periods of growth.

The town was first recorded in 1288 as a small settlement in the region. During the 1800s, it transformed into an industrial hub centered on textile manufacturing, which shaped its growth into the modern city it is today.

The Neo-Gothic Church of the Assumption with its tall tower serves as a gathering place for local celebrations and religious events. It reflects how deeply the church is woven into residents' everyday life and community traditions.

The Tourist Information Centre at the Town Hall offers maps and guidance for exploring the surrounding mountain region. It is helpful to bring comfortable walking shoes and carry water, especially if planning longer walks on the marked trails.

Lake Bielawskie is an artificial reservoir with an island in the middle, creating an unusual landscape for the area. The water becomes popular for swimming and equipment rentals during the warmer months.
