Rezerwat przyrody Bukowa Kalenica

This 28.78-hectare reserve spans across elevations from 800 to 960 meters, encompassing the peaks of Kalenica and Słoneczna in the Sowie Mountains.

The Minister of Forestry and Timber Industry established the Bukowa Kalenica Nature Reserve on April 21, 1962, to protect the native forest ecosystem.

The reserve forms part of the broader Natura 2000 Bardzkie Mountains network and the Sowie Mountains Landscape Park, representing Polish natural heritage.

Visitors can access the reserve through marked trails from the mountain shelter at Jugowska Pass, connecting to the towns of Nowa Ruda, Pieszyce, and Bielawa.

The upper sections contain dwarf beech trees and creeping spruce, which developed their unusual forms due to the rocky substrate conditions.
