Lesko County spans across 834 square kilometers of southeastern Poland, encompassing five municipalities and bordering Slovakia along its southern boundary.
The administrative region underwent substantial changes in 2002 when it was established from five municipalities that previously formed the western section of Bieszczady County.
The territory contains numerous religious structures, including a synagogue from 1626 and the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary church, reflecting the mixed heritage of the region.
The district maintains connections with neighboring regions through a network of roads, with Lesko town serving as the administrative center 67 kilometers from Rzeszów.
The territory includes the ruins of a 14th-century Sobieski Castle, positioned on a steep mountain overlooking the San River valley.
