Treblinka

Treblinka is a village in Ostrów Mazowiecka County where an extermination camp operated from July 1942 to October 1943. Today a museum and memorial site at this location displays artifacts and documents related to the events that took place.

The camp was established in 1942 as an extermination facility and became one of the largest killing centers of Nazi Germany. Over its 16 months of operation, approximately 850,000 people were murdered there.

The memorial uses its stone arrangement to create a place where visitors pause and reflect on what happened here. This layout transforms the location into a space where remembrance becomes a physical, visible act.

The memorial museum offers tours and information to help visitors understand the historical events that took place. It is advisable to allow sufficient time for your visit, as this location calls for quiet reflection and emotional engagement.

In August 1943, around 200 prisoners staged an uprising in which some managed to escape, though few survived to liberation. This revolt remains one of the most notable acts of resistance within the concentration camp system.
