Męcina, Administrative division in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland
Męcina is a village in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, situated at the edge of the Lososinski hills in southern Poland. The Smolnik stream runs through the settlement and flows on toward the Dunajec River.
The village appears in written records from medieval times and grew gradually along the valley floor. Before that, the surrounding area was already home to people of the Lusatian culture, whose burial sites were found nearby during archaeological work.
The wooden church at the center of the village dates from the 17th century and features Baroque details on its facade and interior. It remains an active gathering place for residents, particularly during religious holidays.
Męcina lies east of Limanowa and is reachable by a district road connecting the two. The valley setting makes it a practical base for walking into the hills on either side.
An old mill building from the early 19th century is still visible in the lower part of the village, standing near the stream that once powered it. Not far from it, a sandstone quarry that had been dormant for decades recently started operating again.
