Świnoujście Lighthouse, Maritime navigation aid in Świnoujście, Poland
Świnoujście Lighthouse is a cylindrical tower built from yellow brick with a black lantern crowning its top, rising approximately 65 meters above the surrounding area. The structure is constructed entirely from individual bricks that create a cohesive, slender form that dominates the coastal skyline.
The original structure dates to 1828 but was replaced in 1857 during the Prussian period when the city was called Swinemünde. This replacement building survived both periods of industrial change and the wars of the 20th century.
The lighthouse is visible from most points in town and forms a recognizable landmark for ships entering a major Baltic port. Its prominent position makes it a reference point in the daily life of residents and visitors alike.
Visitors can climb approximately 300 steps to reach an upper viewing level with coastal views. On clear days the view extends well across the water, making the climb rewarding.
This is one of the world's largest brick lighthouses, though it remains less known than other more famous coastal structures. Its cylindrical shape and yellow material set it apart from many other lighthouses across European shores.
