K1

K1 is a commercial skyscraper in Kraków that rises 105 meters across 20 floors, marked by its distinctive blue exterior and central tower structure. The complex houses office spaces and accommodates various companies positioned near a major transportation hub.

The project began in 1972 as a publishing cooperative but was halted in 1975 before a Swedish company resumed and completed it in 1998. This lengthy construction period reflected Poland's shifting economic situation.

The tower marks the shift from socialist-era design to contemporary forms, reflecting how the city reinvented itself after the war.

The structure sits next to a major transportation junction and is easily accessible by public transit. Visitors should know this is primarily an office complex, so access to certain areas may be restricted.

The building received the award 'Building of the Year' in 1998 for its design and execution. This recognition highlighted how the project influenced the city's modern architectural direction.
