Leopold Kindermann Villa

The Leopold Kindermann Villa is a two-story building on Wólczańska Street in Old Polesie that displays plasterwork details, wooden staircases, and stained glass windows. Inside, visitors can explore four rooms that retain their original early 20th-century decorations and fittings.

The villa was designed between 1902 and 1903 by architect Gustaw Landau-Gutenteger but remained unoccupied until 1908 due to political turmoil. This gap between construction and inhabitation reflects the unstable conditions of that era.

The building operates as the Villa Gallery, a branch of the Municipal Art Gallery, presenting exhibitions within its decorated Art Nouveau interior. The rooms retain their original character and allow visitors to experience the artistic taste of the early 20th century.

The building sits conveniently in Old Polesie and welcomes visitors to explore both its exterior and interior spaces. Take your time observing the fine details in each room, as many decorative elements reward closer inspection.

The entrance portico is supported by columns shaped like apple tree trunks, giving the facade a natural and organic appearance. This unusual botanical detail shows how the architect playfully drew from natural forms.
