Elias Church in Białystok

Elias Church is a brick building with Byzantine design, featuring a central dome, a cross-shaped floor plan, and a prominent bell tower on its western side. The inside is designed to hold hundreds of worshippers and serves as an active place for regular religious services.

The church was founded in the early 1980s with a cornerstone that included stones from sacred sites across Poland. It was built during a period when religious expression was becoming increasingly possible in the region.

The painted walls inside show religious scenes created by artists from Eastern Europe, reflecting how the Orthodox faith is expressed through art. These decorations shape the whole feeling of the worship space and connect worshippers to their spiritual traditions.

The church holds services throughout the week, giving visitors flexibility in when they can attend. It is located in a residential neighborhood and is reasonably easy to reach.

The inside of this church follows Eastern traditions with an open layout and no pews, which encourages worshippers to stand during services. This approach gives visitors a chance to experience a different way of worship than what they might find in Western churches.
