Fort VI, Military fortress in Toruń, Poland
Fort VI is a pentagonal military fortification on the outskirts of Toruń with preserved casemates, earthen shelters, and observation posts positioned along its defensive perimeter. The structure displays typical features of late 19th-century defensive design with reinforced walls and protected gun positions.
The fort was built between 1889 and 1893 as part of the city's outer defensive ring. Originally known as Fort IIIa Dohna, it served as an artillery position within the broader fortification system.
The Kurkowe Bractwo Strzeleckie, a traditional shooting organization, maintains and operates within the fortress grounds throughout the year.
The fort is situated about 3.5 kilometers north of Toruń's Old Town Market Square at Szosa Chełmińska 204/210. Local bus routes connect the site to the city center for easy access.
During its 1912-1914 modernization, the fort received electrical systems and Caragana shrubs for natural camouflage of its military installations.
