Cmentarz Komunalny nr 2 im. Ofiar II wojny światowej w Toruniu

Municipal Cemetery No. 2 spreads across several hectares along Grudziądzka Street with rows of graves, memorial stones, and mature trees throughout. The grounds hold over 4,985 documented burial sites and offer a structured layout with pathways connecting different sections.

The cemetery was founded in 1891 and opened in 1900 to serve the growing population as a burial ground. It gained particular significance through holding graves of many individuals who died during World War II in the region.

This cemetery serves as a place where local families honor their deceased and gather on important occasions to pay respects. The grounds reflect how the community marks these moments through their daily visits and remembrance practices.

A documentation project with volunteers continuously photographs and records graves with GPS coordinates. About 21 percent of all burial sites have been cataloged so far, contributing to the preservation of memory.
