Hotel Hevelius in Gdańsk, Hotel in Polen
Hotel Hevelius is a modern tower in downtown Gdańsk's Old Town, rising about 70 meters high and visible from many parts of the city. The building contains 271 rooms, including large apartments and family suites, and was designed by architects Szczepan Baum and Adam Matoń with clean lines and sleek modern style.
The hotel was built in the late 1970s and combines modern design with the clean lines of that era. Its original yellow exterior was later changed to a silver and steel finish, giving it a more modern and bright appearance.
The hotel played a special role during events at the nearby shipyard, hosting journalists and visitors who followed the protests of the 1980s. In the local TV series 'Znaki szczególne,' the tower appears as a character's future home, making it part of local stories and films.
The hotel sits near the main train and bus stations, making arrival and departure straightforward for travelers. From here, visitors can easily reach the historic old town, the shipyard area, and the waterfront on foot or by quick transport.
An earlier hotel with the same name once stood at a different location before this tower was built, and it was smaller with a different appearance. The modern tower has become a recognizable landmark visible from many vantage points throughout the city.
