Góra Moraska

Góra Moraska is a nature reserve located on a hilltop in Poznań that rises 154 meters above sea level, making it the city's highest point. The area features dense forest cover and is crisscrossed by a network of hiking paths for visitors to explore.

The site gained scientific interest in 1914 when local farmers discovered several meteorite fragments in the area, prompting researchers to investigate the surrounding formations. These discoveries turned the location into a focal point for studying evidence of cosmic impacts on the landscape.

The site functions as a field study location where university researchers investigate the natural processes and ecosystems present in the area. Visitors who come here gain direct experience with how scientific work happens in protected natural spaces.

Access to the summit is available via a marked yellow hiking trail numbered 3685, which links with other routes in the northern part of the city. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and allow sufficient time to navigate the various paths available throughout the area.

Hidden beneath the forest are large water retention tanks built between 1978 and 1988 with a capacity of 30,000 cubic meters that manage the city's water supply. These structures demonstrate how protected natural areas can incorporate necessary infrastructure while maintaining their ecological role.
