Rezerwat przyrody Wysokie Skałki, Nature reserve in Jaworki, Poland
Rezerwat przyrody Wysokie Skałki is a nature reserve in the Pieniny Mountains that protects mountain spruce forests with dense understory vegetation and open rocky slopes. The area spans different elevations and provides habitat for numerous bird species as well as rare alpine plants.
The reserve was established in 1961 to protect the last remnants of natural mountain spruce forest in the Pieniny range before it disappeared further. The designation was an early effort to shield this rare forest type from human pressure.
Local educational programs within the reserve connect visitors with traditional ecological knowledge and environmental conservation practices.
Marked trails of varying difficulty guide visitors through different parts of the area, with accessibility depending on season and weather conditions. Proper footwear and attention to trail markers help ensure safe passage through the reserve.
The area is home to rare plant species such as golden lily, alpine clematis, monkshood, and mountain larkspur found nowhere else in the region. These botanical treasures make it an important location for plant observation and scientific study.
