Wysoki Wierch, Mountain peak in Pieniny range, Slovakia
Wysoki Wierch is a mountain peak in the Pieniny range on the Slovak-Polish border, standing at 964 meters in elevation. The summit rises prominently from surrounding terrain and can be identified by its distinct silhouette when viewed from the valley below.
The peak carries two names reflecting its border heritage: Wysoki Wierch in Polish and Šľachovky in Slovak, each marking cultural traditions. This dual naming developed over time as the region served as a natural divide between different territories.
The location marks a natural meeting point between two countries, shaping how local communities relate to the landscape. People from both sides share mountain traditions and use these heights as part of their regional identity.
The trail to the summit spans approximately 11 kilometers with an elevation gain of about 459 meters, suitable for hikers with intermediate experience. A mountain hut called Bacówka is situated nearby and provides a rest stop during the climb.
This is the ninth highest peak within the national park boundary and serves as a key landmark in the region. On clear days, the view from the top allows visitors to see across both national territories simultaneously.
