Pieniny National Park

The limestone cliffs and dense forests of Pieniny National Park extend along the Dunajec River, forming a natural border with Poland.

The territory received protection status in 1932 when the Dunajec River gorge and surrounding forests became Slovakia's first natural reserve.

Traditional rafting on wooden boats through the Dunajec River gorge remains a primary method for visitors to explore the park's formations.

The park administration center in Cerveny Klastor provides permits, maps, and guidance for the 3,749 hectares of protected territory.

The park contains 1,100 plant species, including 18 types of orchids, while the Dunajec River houses 17 different fish species.
