Kładka w Sromowcach Niżnych, International footbridge between Sromowce Niżne, Poland and Červený Kláštor, Slovakia.

Kładka w Sromowcach Niżnych is a wooden suspension footbridge that spans the Dunajec River at the border between Poland and Slovakia. The structure stretches across the water and is anchored with a prominent steel support tower on the riverbank.

Plans for a crossing between the villages emerged in 1914, but the two World Wars prevented construction from moving forward. The footbridge was finally built and opened in 2006.

The footbridge creates a tangible link between the two villages, serving as a daily crossing for people who live on opposite banks. It represents how communities can share a landscape and river despite being in different countries.

The crossing is open to pedestrians and cyclists who can move freely between the two villages without border procedures. The bridge is roughly 2.5 meters wide, allowing comfortable passage for multiple people at once.

The footbridge ranks among the world's longest suspended wooden pedestrian structures and employs specialized materials for durability. This makes it a noteworthy example of how contemporary timber engineering solves cross-border connectivity challenges.
