Wierchliczka

Wierchliczka is a mountain summit in the Pieniny range that sits along the Poland-Slovakia border at around 964 meters elevation. The peak forms part of the natural boundary between the two countries and is embedded within distinctive limestone formations typical of this mountain chain.

The summit was officially recorded in geographic databases in 2013 through contributions by Polish geographer Paweł Truś, bringing the peak into formal regional documentation. This mapping work helped establish it as a recognized feature of the Pieniny chain.

The mountain carries two names: Wierchliczka in Polish and Vrchriečky in Slovak, reflecting how closely the two countries share this border landscape. This dual naming shows the linguistic identity of people living on both sides.

The summit lies outside marked hiking trails, so visitors need good navigation skills and careful preparation before attempting the climb. Bring maps and sturdy footwear, as the terrain is rough and demands physical effort.

From the peak, visitors can see both the distinctive limestone formations of the Pieniny range and the traditional sheep pastures scattered across surrounding meadows. This mix of natural geology and working landscape reveals how the border region has been shaped over time.
