Schronisko w Łupkowie, Mountain hut in Stary Łupków, Bieszczady Mountains, Poland.
Schronisko w Łupkowie is a wooden mountain shelter located at 580 meters elevation in the Roztoka stream valley within the Bieszczady Mountains, accommodating up to 20 visitors. The site also includes a camping area for those seeking simpler lodging options.
The building was acquired in 1982 by Almatur from the Łupków prison as an unfinished structure and transformed into a mountain refuge. It was subsequently managed by the Association of Friends of the Shelter.
The shelter maintains traditional mountain hospitality through shared meals at a large wooden table, where visitors gather in the evenings by candlelight to connect with one another.
The shelter has no electricity, so visitors should bring sleeping bags, flashlights, and personal supplies for an off-grid experience. Access requires hiking through mountain terrain, so proper footwear and gear are essential.
A chapel next to the shelter displays a sign marking it as the last such mountain refuge in the Bieszczady region. This distinction highlights its rare standing among accommodations in the area.
