Skalnik

Skalnik is a granite peak in the Rudawy Janowickie mountains rising to about 945 meters, surrounded by dense forest that gives way to exposed rock formations near the summit. The upper sections feature distinctive stone outcrops that break through the tree cover.

Marked trails were established around the mountain in the 19th century when local hiking clubs began connecting peaks in the Sudetes with organized routes. This early network infrastructure remains the basis for access today.

Skalnik is part of a collection of mountain peaks across Poland known as the Crown of Polish Mountains, representing significant summits that hikers aim to visit. This designation draws visitors who enjoy checking off peaks from different mountain ranges in their climbing journeys.

The ascent from Czartak mountain hut takes roughly two hours following blue and green marked trails to reach the summit. Sturdy footwear and plenty of water are helpful given the rocky terrain and forest sections.

A viewing platform on nearby Ostra Mała offers panoramic views across the Sudetes mountains when weather clears. This separate lookout point is worth the brief detour from the main trail.
