Bismarck tower in Sobótka, Stone observation tower in Sobótka, Poland.
Bismarckturm Zobten is a stone observation tower in Sobótka, Lower Silesia, standing about 15 meters high with 60 steps leading to a viewing platform. The structure offers views across the Lower Silesian landscape and the Ślęża Mountain range from its observation deck.
The tower's foundation stone was laid on April 1, 1914, during Bismarck's centenary celebrations, but its opening was delayed until 1922 due to World War I. After the war, the completed structure opened to visitors as the political landscape in the region had fundamentally shifted.
This structure honors Otto von Bismarck and forms part of a series of monuments built across German territories to commemorate him. The tower reflects the political veneration that was widespread in the region during the early 20th century.
The tower opens to visitors on the first Sunday of each month from 14:00 to 16:00, with additional visits available by advance arrangement. It is wise to confirm opening hours before traveling, especially if visiting from a distance.
The structure was built using local stone materials from the region and sits atop the Wieżyca elevation at 415 meters above sea level. This geographic location gives the tower extra height that amplifies its views over the surrounding landscape.
