Jaskinia Niedźwiedzia, Show cave in Kletno, Poland.
Jaskinia Niedźwiedzia is a show cave in the Śnieżnik Mountains near Kletno, extending over two kilometers through limestone formations. Its passages hold stalactites hanging from ceilings, stalagmites rising from floors and natural cascades forming in certain sections.
A quarry worker stumbled upon the first cave passages in 1966 during extraction work at the Kletno III quarry. Further sections were opened until 1972, when blasting and excavations expanded the underground system.
The name comes from cave bear bones found in the passages, which preserve traces of the last ice age. Visitors today see preserved skeletons and reconstructions of these long-vanished animals in the exhibition rooms.
The cave opens from Tuesday to Sunday between 9 a.m. and 4:40 p.m., with guided tours running around 45 minutes. The underground climate stays cool, so warm clothing and sturdy footwear are recommended for the damp paths.
Beyond the regular tours, an extreme route leads into the old lower sections, requiring specialized cave trekking. These tours allow access to areas that remain closed to regular visitors.
