Kolonia robotników kolejowych na Wildzie, Railroad workers' colony in Wilda district, Poznań, Poland.
Kolonia robotników kolejowych na Wildzie is a residential complex in the Wilda district featuring brick buildings with pseudo-Renaissance gables and mansard roofs. The houses line 28 Czerwca 1956 Street and contain two to three rooms with sanitary facilities.
The colony was built between 1913 and 1916 by the first railway cooperative in Poznań, called Spar- und Bauverein. This early cooperative project demonstrated innovative approaches to housing for worker families.
The neighborhood reflects early efforts to improve railway workers' lives by providing each house with a private garden. These green spaces continue to shape the area's character and reveal how living quality was understood at that time.
The colony is well connected by public transport, with tram lines 2, 9, and 10 stopping near Wspólna Street. Walking through the area is the best way to appreciate the architecture and private gardens of each house.
Notably, the buildings have retained their original architectural features from the railway workers' era, including the characteristic mansard roofs. This preservation makes the colony a rare example of intact early worker housing in Poznań.
