The Freedom Monument rises 23 meters into the sky, featuring a central column surrounded by an openwork rotunda with stairs from four directions.
German prisoners constructed this monument between July and November 1945 under the direction of the Military Council of the 61st Army.
The monument served as a central point for community gatherings and public ceremonies until its eventual demolition in November 2017.
The former site of the Freedom Monument was located at coordinates 53.3397, 15.0375, near the center of Stargard.
Selected decorative elements from the dismantled monument are preserved in the Archaeological and Historical Museum of Stargard.
