Freedom Monument in Stargard, Memorial monument in Stargard, Poland.
The Freedom Monument in Stargard is a 23 meter high structure featuring a central column surrounded by an openwork rotunda. Four sets of stairs provide access to the base from different directions.
German prisoners constructed this monument between July and November 1945 under the supervision of the Military Council of the 61st Army. It was dismantled in November 2017 and no longer stands at its original location.
The monument served as a central meeting point for public ceremonies and community events throughout the city. Local residents gathered here to mark important occasions and shared celebrations.
The original site was located near the city center of Stargard. Visitors should note that the monument no longer stands at this location and only fragments are preserved elsewhere.
Selected decorative elements from the dismantled monument are preserved at the Archaeological and Historical Museum of Stargard. These surviving pieces display craftsmanship details that can no longer be seen at the original site.
