Koronowskie Lake, Artificial lake in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland
Koronowskie Lake is an artificial lake in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship featuring multiple coves and depths exceeding 20 meters in some sections along the lower Brda River. Its shoreline has developed marinas and harbor areas for water vessels of various kinds.
The lake formed from the merger of seven glacial lakes: White Lake, Black Lake, Lipkusz, Strzemno, Turzynek, Stoczek, and Piaseczno. The damming of the Brda River unified these natural water basins into one reservoir.
Three sailing clubs with facilities in the Pieczyska district near the dam shape the water sports life at this lake. They form the center for sailing activities and boating culture in the region.
Only sailboats and fishing vessels are permitted on the lake, with motorboats and jet skis banned to protect the environment. Visitors should note that this rule is enforced and certain areas have considerable depth.
The lake sits within Bory Tucholskie, Poland's largest pine forest complex, which surrounds the waters and provides a special forested setting. This location makes it rare to combine water-based and forest-based activities in one area.
