Saint Dorothy and Sacred Heart church in Opatówek

The church is a four-bay, three-nave structure with a wider central nave and pointed-arch windows set into brick elevations. The design combines multiple architectural phases into a unified building form.

Construction occurred between 1905 and 1912 under architect Konstanty Wojciechowski, incorporating remains from a 14th-century structure. This layering merged medieval and modern building elements.

The wooden altar created by Nowakowski around 1912 depicts Jesus with the Sacred Heart, serving as the focal point for worship in this community space. This religious artwork remains central to how people experience the interior.

Interior access requires advance arrangements with the parish office, though the exterior can be viewed freely during daylight hours. Plan ahead if you wish to see the inside of the building.

General Zajączek's chapel within the building holds a burial crypt and connects to Saint Anne's Chapel via a stairway passage. This hidden spatial link reveals an unexpected interior layout.
