Most Piastowski

Most Piastowski is a bridge in Świnoujście that spans approximately 380 meters between the islands of Wolin and Karsibór. The structure carries two traffic lanes and includes a pedestrian pathway for walkers and cyclists.

The original bridge opened in 1966 to commemorate the millennium of Polish statehood, replacing a ferry service that had previously linked the islands. The entire structure was comprehensively rebuilt in 2012 to improve traffic capacity and modern safety standards.

The bridge name refers to the Piast dynasty, Poland's founding royal house, reflecting deep roots in national identity that residents still value today. This historical naming choice shapes how locals view the crossing as part of their shared heritage.

You can cross at any time since the bridge is continuously maintained and suitable for all vehicle types. Pedestrians and cyclists have their own clearly marked pathway, making the crossing safe and straightforward.

Before its modernization, this was a single-lane bridge with strict weight restrictions that severely limited traffic between the islands. Its transformation into a modern two-lane crossing fundamentally changed connectivity and brought economic benefits to the region.
