Muzeum Miejskie "Dom Gerharta Hauptmanna"

The Gerhart-Hauptmann-Haus displays manuscripts, letters, photographs, and personal items of the German playwright in a Jugendstil villa from 1901.

The museum building served as the residence of Nobel Prize laureate Gerhart Hauptmann from 1901 until his death in 1946.

Expressionistic artworks by Johannes von Avenarius in the entrance hall depict scenes from Hauptmann's notable dramas, including Die Weber and Hanneles Himmelfahrt.

The museum opens Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM between October and April, offering guided tours and educational programs.

The entrance hall features original architectural elements and decorative motifs that exemplify the early 20th-century Jugendstil design movement.
