Radiowo, Residential neighborhood in Bielany district, Warsaw, Poland
Radiowo is a residential neighborhood in the south-western section of the Bielany district in Warsaw. The area contains apartment buildings and green spaces that extend toward the district boundaries.
The area was originally known as Gać when it was established in 1789. The name changed to Radiowo in 1938 following a local decision to adopt a more neutral designation.
The neighborhood takes its name from the Transatlantic Radiotelegraphy Center that once operated here in the early 1900s. This historical connection remains part of how locals understand their area today.
The neighborhood is integrated into Warsaw's City Information System with clear marked boundaries. Multiple streets connect it to surrounding districts, making it easy to navigate between areas.
The Transatlantic Radiotelegraphy Center that gave the area its name was destroyed by German forces in January 1945. Little remains visible today of this once important communication facility.
