Folwark Edwardowo, Historic farm complex in Poznań, Poland
Folwark Edwardowo is a historic farm estate in Poznań with buildings on both sides of Bukowska Street, including a manor house, stables, barns, and storage facilities. The complex contains four residential buildings with vegetable gardens, enclosed by an original wall on the southern side of Bukowska Street.
The farm complex was captured by Polish Uprising soldiers in January 1919, as Germans had previously used it as an observation post to monitor Polish troop movements. This event marked a significant moment in Poznań's liberation following World War One.
The manor house displays simplified Art Nouveau architecture with asymmetrical design, including a semicircular entrance alcove and a small tower. These architectural details reflect the style that was popular on estates during this period.
The site is best explored on foot, as it stretches along Bukowska Street and can be easily walked through. Visitors should note that some buildings are private and can only be viewed from the outside.
The estate is one of the most complete agricultural complexes in Poznań and still preserves the original wall that framed it. This old enclosure marks the boundaries of the original property and gives the place an authentic historical appearance.
