Muzeum Przyrodnicze Świętokrzyskiego Parku Narodowego na Świętym Krzyżu

The Nature Museum of Świętokrzyski National Park occupies a historic abbey building on Święty Krzyż mountain and displays the park's landscapes and wildlife through models, dioramas, and multimedia displays. The exhibition covers both current natural environments and ancient landscapes from different time periods.

The museum was established in 1972 within the former Benedictine abbey that had occupied the hilltop for centuries. A major renovation in 2009 brought contemporary multimedia displays and improved exhibition spaces to the location.

The exhibits show how people have lived and worked in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains over time, from early metalworkers to forest management practices. You can see traditional crafts and learn how local industries like glassmaking developed in the region.

The museum is open year-round and is relatively easy to reach, located at the summit near the abbey complex. It is useful to know that access is typically included with the national park entrance fee rather than requiring a separate ticket.

The exhibition features illuminated displays showing geological periods from the Palaeozoic to the Cainozoic with models of extinct animals. These period-by-period scenes are linked with preserved fossil footprints that reveal which creatures once inhabited the region.
