Nosal, Mountain summit in Zakopane, Poland.
Nosal is a summit rising to 1206 meters in the Tatra Mountains near Zakopane, featuring forested slopes and limestone rock formations. The mountain connects several hiking routes and is accessible via well-marked trails.
The mountain became a hiking destination during the 19th century when early mountaineers began exploring the valleys and peaks in the region. Established trails and routes developed alongside the growth of mountain climbing in the area.
The name comes from the peak's distinctive shape, which resembles a human nose and reflects the local tradition of naming mountains after their appearance. Visitors can recognize this shape clearly when looking at the mountain from different vantage points around town.
The hike up the green trail takes around 35 minutes to reach the summit and is manageable for most visitors. Good hiking boots are recommended since the paths can be uneven with roots and rocks underfoot.
From the peak, visitors can see a broad panorama of several nearby summits including Koszysta, Granaty, Kozi Wierch, Kościelec, Świnica, and Kasprowy Wierch. This expansive view makes the spot a favorite for photographers and mountain observers.
