Zabór Palace, Baroque palace in Zabór, Poland
Zabór Palace is a Baroque palace in Poland with a U-shaped layout and four corner towers. A wide moat surrounds the entire structure and connects via masonry bridges to the courtyard and garden areas.
The palace was founded in 1677 by Heinrich Johannes von Dünnewald and underwent major changes following a fire in 1745. Count Friedrich August von Cosel led the rebuilding effort that shaped the structure standing today.
The palace displays French Baroque features with Rococo decorations in its rooms that visitors can still see today. These architectural elements shape the character of the spaces throughout the building.
The palace currently operates as a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents, which limits regular visitor access. Recent renovations to the facade and interior mean the outside is visible in good condition.
The complex includes a geometric park that extends toward a nearby lake. The walls display sgraffito decorations, a technique that creates patterns by scratching through layers of plaster.
