2 Orzeszkowej Street in Gdańsk

The structure on Orzeszkowej Street 2 is a three-story brick building with carved doors, decorative details, and multiple terraces at different levels. Its facade displays the residential and administrative character typical of early 20th-century merchant houses.

This villa was built in 1922 as a residence for a Jewish merchant and later served administrative purposes during the Free City period. The building's use changed several times after World War II under different authorities.

The villa reflects how wealthy merchants lived and worked in interwar Gdańsk, blending home and business spaces within the same building. Today, its decorated rooms and terraces still show the lifestyle of its original owners.

This house stands in the Aniołki neighborhood and can be viewed from outside, though it shows signs of age and weathering. Planned renovation work will focus on protecting the roof and terraces in the coming years.

During World War II this building served as the headquarters for a Nazi administration, carrying a heavy burden from that period. After the war it was repurposed by communist authorities for a completely different function.
