Porches covers approximately 15.64 km² in the Algarve region and has a population of 2011 inhabitants distributed among 812 families residing in 1707 buildings.
The parish was elevated to town status on July 12, 2001, having previously been a small traditional community that was once part of the Silves municipality.
The region maintains strong traditions linked to maritime activities and fishing, celebrated during popular festivals and religious festivities honoring Our Lady of the Incarnation.
