Episcopal Palace, Braga, Episcopal palace in Sé district, Braga, Portugal
The Episcopal Palace consists of three connected buildings with crenellated walls, combining Gothic and Baroque architectural elements across different wings.
The palace construction started in 1336 under Archbishop D. Gonçalo Pereira, with the medieval Gothic eastern wing completed during the 14th and 15th centuries.
The palace transformed from an ecclesiastical residence into a public library and district archive, preserving historical documents and serving educational purposes.
Located between Santa Barbara Garden and Municipal Square, the palace allows visitors to explore its architectural features while accessing library resources.
The southern wing contains structures from three centuries, reflecting the architectural preferences of different archbishops who resided in the palace.
