A construction agreement from September 1688 between stonemason Manuel Mendes and property owner Pedro Sem documents the formal establishment of the house. This reveals that the building was erected or renovated later than typical medieval structures, yet retained traditional features.

The building serves as headquarters for the Social and Cultural Association of São Nicolau since 1982, shaping community life in the neighborhood. Visitors can observe how traditional spaces are used today for local gatherings and social activities.
